About
The Gaur Collection of modern & contemporary Indian Art

The Art collection focuses on the artistic expression that has emerged from India since the 1940s. Formed in 1995, the New Jersey based encyclopedic collection includes works by senior Indian modernists, contemporary artists, Indian diaspora artists, photographers, sculpturists, printmakers and indigenous artists. The collection is also the nucleus from which the Gaurs continue their activities of promoting modern Indian art through exhibitions, scholarship, and collaboration with museums and educational institutions. Since 2015, the Gaurs have started a program of gradually gifting parts of their collection to major US institutions so that these works may be preserved, researched and exhibited and also enjoyed by future generations
