Swarna Chitrakar is an Indian folk artist known for her contribution to the art form of Patua painting, also known as Patachitra.

The Patua community practices this traditional art form that involves storytelling through visual narratives on scrolls. These scrolls are often used by the artists to convey stories from mythology, folklore, or contemporary issues. The images in the scroll are accompanied by a sung or spoken narrative. Chitrakars often travel from village to village, presenting their stories through these scrolls.

This painting on HIV/AIDS, much like a public health information campaign, tackles taboos and imparts medical advice.
